Instructions:
Before changing the settings, you must first update drivers of your Belkin router. also keep the router login details like username and password handy. Look below for instructions.
Power cycle (turn off and then on) all the devices viz. computer, Belkin router, internet modem etc. When all the devices have booted up fully, click on the Start menu (Windows button) and navigate to
Control Panel.
In the
Control Panel window, locate the
Devices folder, and double click to open it. Locate
Belkin Wireless Router icon, right click on it and then click to choose
Update Driver. Wait until drivers update fully. When done, exit all the windows.
If you are unable to locate the
Devices folder in
Control Panel, then go to the
Start menu again and right click on
My Computer. Click to select
Manage from the dropdown options and you will see the Device Manager window.
Click on the
Device Manager icon under
System Tools and it will display a list of handful options in the right pane. Locate
Belkin Components or a similar name and right click on it. Select
Update Driver from the options and it will prompt open the
Hardware Update Wizard window.
Choose an option from the 3 displayed ones viz.
Yes, this time only, Yes, now and every time I connect a device, and
No, not this time. Hit the
Next button and follow rest of the instructions. When done, press the
Finish button to close the wizard window. Exit all the currently opened windows.
Now that the drivers have been updated fully, open up your favorite internet browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla etc.) on the Ethernet wired computer. Type ‘192.168.2.1’ without quotes in the address bar and hit
Enter on the keyboard. It will prompt open the router login screen.
Enter the password in the intended box and then hit the
Enter key. If you never setup or changed your password, then leave the box blank as the default password is always none in most of the Belkin routers. Hit the
Submit button on the screen to proceed to the configuration page.
When logged in, click on the
Connection Type link under
Internet WAN. Choose the type of connection that you are using from the displayed options and then hit the

If you don’t have it, then type a passphrase in the
Passphrase box below and then hit the
Generate button to fetch a key. You must note this key down on a piece of paper for future use as it might slips off your mind anytime. Click on the
Apply Changes button to finish the procedure.
Instead of the
‘128-bit WEP’ key, you can have the brand new security level for your wireless networking using
WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). Click on the
Wi-Fi Protected Setup link under
Wireless. Select
Enabled from the dropdown menu and then hit the
Apply Changes button.
You can also customize your wireless network’s settings like the name and channel number etc. Click on the
